Here, Vetty Vetty!By
Mopsy Strange Kennedy Jeremy Gransky (617-753-9300 or 508-653-4300) does
veterinary house calls in the Boston area and points west to Framingham. See www.athomevet.net. His clients include
cats, dogs, birds, bunnies, reptiles and hamsters. |

“I
come with a ton of stuff,” laughs Jeremy Gransky, referring to his
house-call vet service, which has him—rather than your trembling dog,
cat or even more fragile bird—commuting. Diagnostic equipment, scales,
needles, medicine, laptop and printer tromp in with him. Gransky’s
client’s praise his bedside manner, his nurturance, patience and
willingness to discuss matters of illness and choices. His services include
checkups, immunizations, weighings and diagnostics.
Blood tests are sent to local labs, then he calls
you the next day with results. Should a hospital visit be necessary,
he’ll arrange it locally for you. One woman said, “He talks to my
cats the way I do,” adding that when she had to have him put her cat
down, which he did very sympathetically, “I cried more than I’ve
ever cried in anyone else’s presence.” And the comfort to
animals—especially those who may be stressed or scared “litterboxless” by the journey to the vet’s
office—is enormous. Gransky gets down on the floor in an animal’s
comfortable spot; for one woman, he went under the bedclothes, found the sybaritically hiding kitty, and gave him the injection
right there, purringly safe.
